Is Hiring a Postpartum Doula Really Worth It?

We think yes! But let’s be honest — we’re a little biased. After all, this is the heart of what we do. Still, we’d love to share why we truly believe postpartum doula care is not just helpful, but essential for many RVA families.

“It takes a village.”

This phrase has been around for generations — and for good reason. The early weeks after having a baby are beautiful, but also incredibly demanding. You're healing, likely sleep-deprived, and adjusting to the rhythms of caring for a brand-new human. It’s a lot, even for experienced parents.

That’s where we come in.

When you welcome us into your home — a responsibility we do not take lightly — we’re there to support your whole family in practical, thoughtful, and compassionate ways.

Here’s what postpartum care looks like with us:

You get rest. We watch over your little one so you can get a few solid hours of sleep. You’d be surprised how life-changing that can feel after birth.

We handle feedings.

If you're breastfeeding, we’ll bring baby to you when it's time.
If you're bottle-feeding, you don’t even have to wake up. We’ll change, feed, and settle your baby back to sleep.

Laundry piling up? We’ll fold it. (And yes — you will have laundry. Babies go through outfits faster than you’d expect.)

Dishes and bottles? We’ll wash and sanitize pump parts, bottles, and help tidy up your kitchen when time allows.

Need a meal or snack? If there’s food in the fridge, we’re happy to start a crockpot dinner or bake something nourishing for your recovery.

Need advice or guidance? We’ve supported many families over the years and are happy to share tips, tricks, and resources. And when we don’t know the answer, we can connect you with someone who does.

Just need to talk? We’re here for you — not just your baby. Whether you want to process your birth experience, talk through emotions, or simply chat, we’re ready to listen. That goes for partners, too.
