Meet the Heart Behind Richmond Birth and Baby

We wanted to take a few minutes to shine a light on the amazing woman behind Richmond Birth and Baby—our founder, leader, and my mother—Kristi Ramey.

Honestly, I don’t have nearly enough time or words to do justice to everything she’s accomplished... but I’ll give it my best shot.

The Mom and Grandma

Growing up, my mom was always that person—reaching out to support new moms (and seasoned ones) with anything baby-related. I’ve watched hundreds of women come to her for advice, encouragement, and practical help. It’s been incredible to witness, and it’s one of the many reasons I’ve always been so proud of her.

She’s passed down much of her wisdom to her three daughters, too. She homeschooled us, ran our church’s nursery program for years, and faithfully served on the mission field in Mexico for four years—caring for women and babies with her whole heart.

Fast forward to today, and she’s now “Mimi” to eight grandkids—with another on the way! She’s active in their lives and makes sure to show up in all the fun, loving, messy, wonderful ways only a grandma can. And through it all, she’s never wavered in pointing us—and so many others—toward Christ.

Honestly, I still get excited when I meet new parents and get to say, “Oh! You have to meet my mom!”

The Rockstar Business Owner

When my mom decided to launch her own business eight years ago, we were thrilled... and, okay, maybe a little nervous. Not because she lacked the knowledge or passion—but because running a business is a whole other level compared to teaching family's one-on-one.

But of course, she did what she always does—she figured it out. She set her sights on a goal and ran with it. In the middle of building this business, she has also gone on to get more training! She now can add certified postpartum training, IBCLC and Cranial Sacral

Today, she leads a team of nearly 30 doulas, has supported more families than we can count (and yes—I tried!), and has grown into an incredible, inspiring leader. It hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has been worth it.

I recently returned to work full-time with the company after several years as a nanny. And while working with family definitely has its moments, being part of this dream my mom built—and seeing the lives she’s touched firsthand—has been so rewarding.

Where We Are Now

Richmond Birth and Baby has grown into a thriving team of labor doulas, postpartum doulas, IBCLCs, and educators. We’re passionate about helping new and growing families feel confident, supported, and empowered through every stage of their journey.
