A Review Made Us Cry

If there is one thing we could tell all Richmond Birth and Baby clients to do, it would be "leave a review", and even better, a DETAILED review. The good, the bad, the ugly, the brilliant, alllllll of it.
Why?
Simply put, it gives other clients a "sneak peak" into what their experience will be like, which is helpful when it comes to choosing a service provider during such a pivotal time in their life. We have found this particularly true with second time parents, who tend to have a more detailed version of how they want pregnancy and postpartum to go and know what they want to AVOID.

In addition to being helpful for our clients, the feedback is necessary for us as a business. It lets us know where we shine, and where we need to improve or even change policies (which we have done after receiving feedback).
However, it can be quite tricky to convince someone to leave a review, especially one on a public space, like a google page.
For every ONE comment you see, there are probably 5 private ones emailed to us. While we absolutely do NOT mind this, it IS a bit easier for for others if they can actually read your thoughts. :)
Which brings us to today, and the incredibly thoughtful and yes, detailed review left by a recent client. Our office manager went around to the staff and told us all to go read it. "The review will make you cry...in a good way!"
"Please don’t wait to reach out to these wonderful people. If you are reading this, this is your sign.
When my wife and I finally reached out to Kristi we had struggled for 5 weeks with terrible advice from several pediatricians, making things worse. Nobody is perfect but these people are pretty darn close.
Within a week of our first visit, we had a legitimate action plan, that WORKED. It’s incredible what a patient, caring, expert is able to do when you let them.
The services provided here are nothing short of godsent and just in time. We battled a tongue tie which was successfully corrected, dietary issues that were correctly diagnosed, and her team did their magic work with him during sessions. Kristi even attended one of the recommended specialist visits to make us feel even more comfortable.
Everyone’s story is different but you deserve to be heard and supported by the best. These people are that.
I’m writing this review in hopes that someone else decides to contact them earlier, you don’t need to struggle through it alone.---Brandon G."

This parent listed three key elements to getting their baby back on track:
The Root of The Problem
Sometimes a bandaid is really all you need!
However, when it comes to serious breastfeeding or pumping struggles, there is often more going on beneath the surface. It's our jobs as lactation professionals to keep digging until we get to the root WITH the parent-or connect them with another professional who can. It could be oral tissue restriction (think tongue ties), neck or muscle tension around the jaws, poor sucking mechanics, issues with mom's nipples...whatever it is, the client expects us to understand the situation and how to fix it. We should be willing to do whatever it takes to help them.
A Real Plan
It's not enough to just explain what is wrong. We then need to develop a plan with "actionable steps."
If the plan you give them does not take into account their current lifestyle and what they feel capable of tackling, then it's the wrong plan. Full stop. What advice we give to clients MUST factor in real life situations and how mom and baby are doing. Every family we serve is unique and our advice and support measures should reflect that.
Having The Right Team
"Her team did their magic work with him during sessions..."
We genuinely strive to bring the best to the table, and a huge part of that is the incredible team that has come alongside us. From our staff who make booking and correspondence a breeze, to the people holding and caring for the infants-it all matters. When you come to our office, you can count on each person you interact with to be professional, knowledgable, and ready to encourage you as parents.
If you have ever been (or plan to be) a client, would you mind taking a minute to share this post, or go and leave a review of your own to our page? Every little bit helps us as a small business! Thank you.
