Meet LaTonya

- Postpartum and Birth Doula, Daytime and Overnight Care -

Wearing a beige shirt, LaTonya smiles towards the camera

As a healthcare worker for 15 years, Latonya always wanted to do something more meaningful with her career. After battling with birth trauma from both of her pregnancies, she knew that more support, advocacy, and policy changes were needed but didn't know how to navigate those changes.

In May 2020, Latonya did her ancestry DNA research and discovered 4 generations of maternal Midwives. With that lineage information, she was inspired to learn more. This led to uncovering her true passion and purpose to start
her doula practice.
She trained with DONA in May 2020 and Sept 2020 and became a Birth and Postpartum Doula. It was during that time, that she realized how much education and support was needed.

LaTonya is now known in the field as the nurturer or "Education Doula" because of her kindness and support for people around her and her passion to educate people about all things birth and lactation.

In 2021 Latonya continued her education and later became certified through Urban Baby Beginnings through their Advanced Doula Training Program and became certified as a Community Health Worker/Community Doula and continues to serve the Richmond and Tri-Cities area as one of the first Doulas to become certified by the state of VA.

As she continues her journey as a doula, her goal is to have a free-standing birthing center/education center for moms and families to have a designated place to get great quality care from Pregnancy through Postpartum and beyond. Latonya wants parents to feel liberated through education for positive and healthy birthing outcomes.
